Types of Therapy
As well as the relationship with your therapist, having a choice in the type of therapy is important. I believe that therapy should be tailored to achieve the best outcomes.

Rewind Technique
The Rewind Technique for Trauma is a simple, effective way to separate intense feelings from a traumatic memory, so that the memory no longer triggers distress. One benefit is that there is no need to discuss the incident/s with me if you prefer not to and another is that it is very brief (from just 1-3 sessions for a single incident trauma).I use it for phobias and traumatic stress.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR) is the practise of recalling traumatic events while the brain is stimulated side to side, with eye movements, physical stimulation (with hand held buzzers, for example), or sounds in each ear. This evidence based technique is widely used to treat traumatic stress & PTSD. This blog post explains what to expect with EMDR therapy.

Counselling/Psychotherapy
Sometimes you just need a safe, impartial space to verbalise how you're really feeling. It is not for me to give you advice on your situation - we will work together to help you find your own solutions. This is achieved by giving you space and time to reflect on what you really want and how you might get there. We have lots of options, including working with the 'parts' of your personality to ensure that of your needs are heard and fulfilled, or taking a more action based approach with some CBT techniques.
